Karen Grabham

Head Veterinary Surgeon

Karen Grabham - Head Veterinary Surgeon
Karen Grabham BSC (Hons) BVM&S MRCVS Head Veterinary Surgeon

Karen was born and brought up in Edinburgh. She qualified as a vet nurse at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies and this confirmed that her true course was to become a vet. In order to do that she chose to do a degree in pharmacology at Liverpool University.

Karen qualified as a vet in 2001 from the R(D)SVS in Edinburgh, and worked for many years in small animal practice both as a nurse and a vet. Karen has a special interest in exotics, which was sparked during her time as a nurse at Edinburgh Zoo. Now, having worked for 30 years with animals the interest and excitement that comes with each patient has never diminished.

As well as treating cats and dogs her interest in dealing with the more exotic of species has led her to treat anything from sugar-gliders, raccoons, skunks, lemurs, tortoises, many species of lizard, snakes and even the occasional rhino!

Karen’s own personal collection of pets includes tortoises, guinea pigs, cats and fish. When she has spare time it’s spent cycling, wild swimming, reading and spending time with her family.
